Friday Sermon
HADHRAT AMIR’UL MUMINEEN MUHYI-UD-DIN
Munir Ahmad Azim
20 September 2013 ~
(14 Dhul-Qaddah 1434 Hijri)
(Summary of Friday Sermon)
After having greeted all his followers (and all Muslims) round the world – mentioning the nearby islands, India, Kerala, Trinidad and Tobago etc. – with the Salutations of Peace, Hazrat Muhyi-ud-Din (atba) read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and then said:
Allah (swt) does not say this: Give My message to this nation, not that (other) one. Let us give it to all indiscriminately. In Chapter 3, Verse 104 (of the Holy Quran), Allah (swt), proclaims a universal brotherhood for mankind.
“And hold on tight to the rope of Allah and be not divided, and remember the grace which God has bestowed upon you when you were enemies and He reconciled your hearts in love, so that by His grace you have become brothers. And you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah explains His commands so that you may be guided.”
From the beginning, Islam seeks to bring peace between people of different colours, nations and languages. There is mention of this in Chapter 30, Verse 23: “And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and your complexion. Surely there are signs for those who possess knowledge.”
And in Chapter 49, Verse 14, Allah says: “O mankind, We have made you into clans and tribes that you may recognize each other. Verily, the most honourable among you in the sight of Allah is he who is the most righteous among you.”
In his final sermon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: “You are all equal. All human beings are equal, regardless of their tribes or nations and whatever their rank in society. Nobody can claim superiority or any right over his fellows. You are all brothers.”
Thus any distinction or privilege relating to colour, race or caste, rank or wealth and family lineage is not set in Islam. Islam promotes the great brotherhood of man on earth, and urges us all to seek the pleasure of God in righteousness and good conduct. You will not thus see in Islam mosques for the exclusive use of white or black (people), rich or poor. And in the house of prayer, no place is reserved for the powerful (people) of the community.
All without distinction must stand shoulder against shoulder when performing the daily prayers. Islam spreads its message of peace to all men; especially those who have lost hope and crave that their suffering end rapidly. In this respect God says: “O My servants who transgressed against your own soul - Do not despair of the mercy of Allah, surely Allah forgives all sins. Verily, He is Almighty, Merciful.”
So brothers and sisters, do not despair of the mercy of Allah, for Allah (swt) in this century has sent His Khalifatullah with the Holy Spirit. In order to clarify what has been said, it should be good that we talk briefly on the path of spiritual leadership in Islam and analyze the prospects for the Ummah. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the perfect example, was the first leader of the Ummah. His status is unsurpassed. At his death, the memory of the apostolate was so present in the minds of Muslims, his teachings were so perfect and unity within the Ummah was so strong that the first four caliphs had to only follow his steps to ensure the continuity of his work.
Then the caliphate began to lose its lustre to the point that Muslims today hardly remember the name of the fifth caliph of Islam. The caliphate therefore fell into the ordinary (caliphate being taken as a common occurrence, a common thing) and eventually replaced by a hereditary monarchy. But then, a race of so-called theologians known as mullahs, and about whom the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) had predicted that they would be “the worst creatures under the canopy of heaven” appeared. This was the final stab given to spiritual leadership and leadership for short. The agony in which then slides the Ummah continues today.
It seems appropriate to recall the Muslim community once again of the divine utterance contained in the following verse. “And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be among those on whom Allah has poured His blessings, namely, the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous, and these are excellent companions.” (4: 70).
The promise in this verse, made only to the Muhammadan Ummah and no other Ummah should be enough to fill with joy and hope, the heart of all Muslims till eternity.
Islam is in the nature of man, especially all humans who are guided by Allah and His Messengers. If Islam is the last religion, guidance and perfect essence of what a servant of God must be, then we should also remember that the oath of Satan is as alive today as it once was in the early existence of Khalifatullah Adam (as), and David (as), and all other prophets for that matter. Satan promised Allah to misguide people from His path, and God gave him permission to try to mislead, because ultimately he will only succeed in deviating those who prefer to follow their vain desires. As for the chosen servants of Allah, His Messengers, His Chosen Caliphs, Satan cannot lead them astray because they are under divine protection. Yes, he (Satan) can annoy them from time to time and put obstacles in their way, but it is them, the protected elects of Allah who will win. Patience is certainly bitter but its fruit is sweet.
If the Muslim community think about it, it will see that the division (in the Ummah) is the work of Satan. Allah wants that His religion be supreme in the universe. And He has already made out all necessary provisions so that whenever Satan tries to harm Islam and the Muslims, then He will send from among the followers of His perfect Elect, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) such this man of wisdom and divine knowledge who will lead the Muslims and humanity to the true essence of religion, Islam. If no one submits himself body and soul to God, then Satan will have his victory, but Allah, the Creator, the One Master, and even master and creator of Satan will not remain crossed arms (that is, idle – doing nothing). He will show His power today as He has done many times in the past. If Islam is alive today, it is only through God’s promise to protect it and at the same time to protect His creatures, His believing servants from falling into the trap of Satan and thus to inherit hell they let themselves be influenced by his machinations.
Satan and his army lie in each of us. We must fight them at all levels. Muslims are all humans, and therefore they are not completely detached from Satan. Instead, through Satan, Allah wants to test His servants to know and make clear their frankness and sincerity or hypocrisy and infidelity. The Muslims should know that if they do not unite as one body, then Islam will be in name only and the enemies of Islam will imagine they are victorious in their plan to finish Islam and establish their false doctrines.
So, today as in the past and until the Day of Judgement Allah will exalt His elect, His caliphs (Khalifatullah) from among the Muhammadan Ummah to restore God’s kingdom on earth. And this promise, the Ummah must understand it and have faith on it so that it (the Ummah, the Muslims) unites with Allah and His Khalifatullah to restore the glory of Islam, the oneness of God and the honour of seal of the Prophets Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Insha-Allah, may Allah opens the hearts of the Muslims so that they realize that the promises of God contained in the Qur’an must always be realized, and that whenever Islam and the Muslims are in danger, then Allah will send someone from Him to restore the supremacy of Islam and destroy all false gods. Insha-Allah, Ameen.
