(Summary of Friday Sermon)

SIRAT UN NABI صلى الله عليه وسلم

After having greeted everybody with the Salutations of Peace, the Khalifatullah read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and afterwards he said:

Due to the fact that we are in the month of Rabi’ul Awwal, lots of Muslims would be celebrating, if Allah wills, on the tenth of March in Mauritius, the birthday of the Prophet, there are some of those who will be celebrating the birth of the Prophet and some will be explaining on the Sirat (character and life) of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). And I remind you also that on the tenth of March, it will be a year since our Jamaat was registered officially, by the grace of Allah.

Today, my sermon will be based on the spiritual revolution which there was in Arabia more than 1429 years ago.

We, members of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, must reflect on the spiritual revolution which there was more than 1429 years ago in the deserts of Arabia with the coming of our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). At that time, Allah made him a solemn promise that he would have the upper hand on everybody. Moreover, it was such times when he (the Holy Prophet) was alone, and isolated from the world. Thus, it was extraordinary and virtually unimaginable that victories throughout the world would begin at his hands. He was the one who at that time was subject to the torture of the people of Mecca, and receiving lots of ill treatments from their part, and those same people thought that his proclamation was a ridiculous and meaningless thing. They thought that “At any time, we can finish him!” and if they did him no harm, they took it as a favour which they were doing him, and which was supposedly according to their traditions. Thus, it is because of all these, that they thought that ‘the cards were in their hands’. But when they decided to pounce on him, then we get to witness how Allah saved him from all their plots and brought these plots to naught. Even before their hands reach the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to harm him, their hands were rendered useless.

The anecdote of the ‘Cave of Thorr” will ever remain the testimony of a great miracle in the history of the world. Nobody can imagine how it came to happen. And if this miracle had not happened, and if it had not become a part of history, then nobody would have believed that such an extraordinary thing which happened. In such a deserted place like this, where there was no place to hide, such a place that if there were foot prints, then these footprints would have stayed there for a very long time. It is only a tempest which could have erased such marks. It was in this place which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took refuge, specifically in a cave on a small hill, when he left Mecca to migrate to Medina. Amongst the enemies who tried to follow his tracks, there were some experts in retracing the tracks of people. In such a situation, on arriving to that deserted place, they reached the conclusion, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) could not have gone further, and that he must have taken refuge in the cave upon the hill. And when the enemies were talking outside the cave, it was possible for the one inside the cave to see the feet of those outside.

And in such a moment, spiders built their web at the entrance of the cave, and these enemies remarked a small egg on this spider web. They thought that it was either the egg of a pigeon or of another bird. So, this was a small anecdote about that miracle of the protection of Allah upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) against the enemies.

On the other hand, the Quran is explicit to say that amongst all habitats, it is the habitat of the spider which was the most fragile. But, by the grace of Allah, it was that very fragile habitat which became the strongest, and thus the enemies were fooled about the whereabouts of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who was in fact hiding inside the cave. The enemies did not deem it necessary to break this web in order to search for the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) inside the cave.

Thus, definitely, this anecdote is an extraordinary one. In such situations like this, and with such a physically weak person as the Prophet (peace be upon him), Allah made extraordinary promises to him. Those promises had trait also with the future.

There was a time when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was busy with digging trenches. They faced such hard times that the companions (Sahaba) thought that if the enemies were to come closer and closer to invade them, then what would they do? So, the companions toiled night and day to dig deeper trenches, but once they got a difficulty whereby their picks touched a big rock which they were unable to break. If they could not succeed to break that rock, then they would get all the more difficulties to dig the trenches.

Thus, they tried with all their might to break the rock but to no avail. Therefore they asked the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to help them in this matter. They said: “O Messenger of Allah; struck the rock.” The physical weakness of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) was such that when the companions attached a rock around their belly as a sign of their hunger, the Prophet (peace be upon him) had two rocks around his belly, proving that he was the one to face the severest hunger ever. It was so, when one of his companions lifted up his shirt to show him that he had a rock around his stomach, meaning that he was hungry and saying: “O Messenger of Allah! Look at this situation whereby we are forced to attach a rock around our stomach.” But then, in his turn, the prophet lifted up his shirt and showed him that two rocks were attached to his own stomach!

Thus, afterwards the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took a pick or a spade and struck on the rock which his companions could not break. When he struck the first time on the rock a spark sprang forth, whereby the Prophet (peace be upon him) proclaimed: “Allah is Great”. He struck a second time, and this time also a spark sprang to find him saying again: “Allah is Great”. The third time also the same thing happened and he said: “Allah is Great” and afterwards the rocks came into pieces.

When asked about why he glorified Allah upon breaking the rock, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said that upon seeing each spark, Allah showed him his victory on some empires. The keys of the palace of Syria, Persia and Yemen were given to him respectively with each strike.

Therefore, it was in such moment of dire physical weaknesses that Allah was showing him their victory upon all these empires. If in such situations a person was to declare what the Prophet (peace be upon him) declared, it was normal that the enemies would label him as a madman. This is so, because either a madman or a person who have complete certitude on Allah can say these things. Thus, the enemies of the Prophet (peace be upon him) at that time, did not perceived the veracity of his prophecies and his status as Prophet of God. The verdict they gave concerning this claim of his was either that he was a madman or really a Chosen Servant of God, especially when he was saying that he was receiving the keys of such empires like Syria, Yemen and Persia.

The Messenger of Allah had great love for Allah and he received pure messages from the heavens. There were no refutations save these two options to define such a person (in the enemies’ eyes). Thus, by their reaction, it was clear that they took these prophecies as something impossible to materialise. But the fact that they saw it as an impossible thing, shows all the more, the veracity of such a claim – because little by little the labels which they had put on him to say that his prophecies were false, but little by little, they were discomfited to find that his prophecies (the prophecies of a so-called “Madman”) have taken their shape and materialise. And there were also some promises which were connected with the era of the “Aakhiriin” (those who will come after him, after his epoch). This has a connection with us also, because it is us (Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam) whom Allah has chosen to become the slave of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), to be victorious over the whole world and to bring back all people under the banner of the veracity of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Compared to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions, we are weaker, and more ordinary than them, who were the gems of Islam and much more superior than us in status. The companions’ strength was exceptional, because they took their teachings directly from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself.

Between them and us there is a gap of more than 1429 years, but in spite of that, it is a great favour of Allah that it is through the Darood (invocation of blessings upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad – peace be upon him) and the supplications of the Holy Prophet that the re-union of the “Aakhiriin” and the “Awwaliin” will be done. And Quran gives us the good tidings that the “Aakhiriin” will be such people who will be united with the “Awwaliin”. The time that we are living is indeed a great era whereby we are seeing the accomplishment of these sayings and prophecies before our own eyes. This is becoming part of the history which is being created; it is not the fruit of history but it is the formation of history.

Through the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, history is being made. Thus, the history which is being made through the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam is still and verily the history of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Therefore, keep this truth alive; when we will keep an eye on this truth, then all the successes which we will attain, we will realise that we do not in fact deserve such successes. We will come to realize that it is indeed the blessings of those who have preceded us that we were able to benefit from such rewards and successes.

Verily, we have no claim to such successes. This is such a truth that I have felt personally, and there is no exaggeration in this statement. I know full well this truth, and there is no doubt that this is the blessings and the fruits reaped by the “Awwaliin” which have enabled such successes. And these are the successes which were destined for the Promised Messiah (on him be peace). We are only the means to achieve this success and that’s all.  Thus, we must exceed all limits in gratefulness. Therefore, become so much grateful that you exceed all limits in this field but it is a fact also that even then, you would not be able to express the gratefulness required.

We must explain our brothers and sisters, that the events which have taken place, and those which have taken place in the past and that which will happen in the future, we must not rejoice in these things as mere spectacles, because then we will incur great losses. If we have taken pleasure in these happenings only exteriorly, then these actions will be in vain, because they have not been done only for the pleasure of Allah. Tomorrow the world will say: “Is this small group of people who will change our destiny (that is, by guiding them towards the unicity of Allah)?” If for them, it is quite an insignificant thing, but for us, in the eyes of Allah, it is a great thing. This is so, because we have obeyed the commands of our Lord and Creator. What I want to make you understand is the truth which beauty is profound. That image of beauty is an image of complete obedience towards our Creator. Even if tomorrow we have to hand over our head to be sacrificed to cause the spread of the unicity of Allah around the world, we will say: “Labbaik” (Here I am) and each drop of blood which will be shed will colour this universe with “Laa-Ilaaha Illallah”. This event will emerge with a new glory. It is not only happening in this present era, but it is linked with the past also, and this will increasingly continue to be so in the future.

Therefore, we are spiritual beings and our pleasures must always remain always spiritual also. And to preserve this spirituality we must continuously fight. If not, there would be such successes for us in the future, that can gladden the heart to the extreme but then, the heart and mind would be devoid of gratefulness towards Allah; one would forget to prostrate before Allah to thank Him for such successes.

We can have a wrong conclusion of these successes. Thus, fear that lest these things make you forgetful of the favours of Allah. And when talking about these pleasures in your houses, talk about it with reference to Allah and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). We must show our simplicity and humility. Show that we do not merit these, but it is Allah who has chosen us for the accomplishment of these promises and we are witnessing them with our own eyes!

When you will protect this humility, then Allah has made the promise to the Promised Messiah (on him be peace) that He liked his humility and simplicity. And this is a promise which will Insha-Allah be accomplished in our favour also. And this is a true humility, and there is no exaggeration in that. If you recognise this simplicity, that indeed, we are nothing, so as not to say that we are zeroes, and then you will see how the favour and grace of Allah will increase continuously. And we will ourselves be astonished with that! These grace and favours will be so powerful that they will conquer our frame of mind, our flamboyance etc.

Whenever there is a great and extraordinary manifestation, it is as if the eyes are blinded. You cannot see at all, and it has temporarily the upper hand over your memory, and you cannot assimilate it and thus cannot understand it. Therefore, in this aspect, I hope and I have the certitude that the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam will preserve its humility and then Allah will pour down a lot more favours upon us. If we do not possess this humility, Allah can forcefully take back this favour from us, like He did with the others. In this context, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you must always remain united; that which you saw was a unity, a united gathering. And the image of this united gathering was already in your minds, but never did you before witness that union which you are now witnessing today.  With the divine manifestation today, you are living it and you are seeing with your own eyes and you have understood this well; that which is called “united on only one hand” – that is, united on the hand of the humble servant and messenger of Allah.

And you have got to know the kind of spiritual pleasures that is present in this divine manifestation. In this way, little by little, there will be that great spiritual revolution; such a revolution which would alter the destiny of the whole world Insha-Allah. We are present in such an epoch where there is again this spiritual revolution which the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) had brought, and this revolution will happen, Insha-Allah. Nobody can change that, except if Allah decides otherwise.

May Allah give us the necessary strength to preserve all the time these blessings which we are witnessing in this era. In fact it is the blessing of past eras which has come with a new face. There is a saying about old drinks in new bottles. But this is the same drink and same favour and grace which had descended upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Now, it is descending in other forms. May Allah give us the strength to preserve its purity and cleanliness, without adding other bad things to it, and may we able by His grace to distribute this pure drink throughout the whole world. Insha-Allah, May Allah make it happen. Ameen.

When concluding his sermon, the Khalifatullah recited the following prayer under divine inspiration:

O Allah! Give me success in my supplications,

And show me my days of joys.

O my Lord,

Be for me,

And O the Knower of my pain and sadness,

O the One whom the weak ones adore,

Purify me and adopt a lenient attitude towards me.

All the opponents have renounced me and have humiliated me in all sorts of ways,

I did not have any other alternative which presented to me,

Than to go in quest of Thy help and support.

O the One who fulfils prayers,

I have complete hope that Thou will give me back my days.

When my Sun is preparing itself to set and my heart has become tired with worry,

I take an oath on Thee O Allah that my supplications are not because I am behind fame and glory;

No! But instead it is for Islam which the enemies are attacking.

The sun has set on Islam and Ahmadiyyat and there is darkness everywhere.

O my Lord! Have Mercy upon us and accept my supplications.

It is Thee whom we supplicate and it is before Thee that we show our pain.

Those people say that they are experts at religion, and they are its pillars,

But there is not a single one of them for whom I can say that he is a servant of the religion of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him),

And who is a lover of the Prophet and his comrade.

It cannot be said of this for anyone;

On the contrary, they have plunged into their own desires,

In evils;

In hypocrisy.

I see the majority of them as infidels,

There was a time when I was amongst them;

I thought that all these people,

Or the majority of them were together with me as my help,

But when the times of trials came,

They turned on their backs,

And this was decreed to happen like this;

Thus, my strength is weakening and they got news of it.

O Master of the Universe, all strength and courage is from Thee alone;

I prostrate before Thee alone and I have placed my trust in Thee alone,

And I satisfy myself with Thee only,

Thus, hide my weaknesses and remove my worries and give me comfort and tranquillity;

Do not leave me alone,

You are indeed the Best of Inheritors.

Honour, dignity and values are found in Thy hands,

When Thou cometh, problems and trials remain far away,

I witness that there is nobody and nothing to be worshipped except Thee;

And there is nobody who gives greatness save Thee,

There is no one except Thee who give protection;

I trust Thee completely and I have submitted myself before Thee,

Thou art indeed the Refuge of those who trust Thee.

O my Master! Pour down Thy favours upon me,

Besides Thee, I do not know any other Master,

Send upon Thy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him),

Thy blessings and my salutations of peace;

Show the brilliance of his greatness and show the proofs of his veracity to the people.

O Allah, today we, from the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam,

We submit ourselves before Thee for;

The Community the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Ahmadiyyat are in great problems;

Accept our supplications,

Our acts of worship,

Our Fasting and our sacrifices;

All these are for Thy sake only.

Indeed Thou art the All-Knowing and Thou seest throughout my heart,

We are completely and happily with Thee,

And all that we do for Thy sake,

We do it truthfully.

If Thou didst not guide us,

Then we would have never adopted the right path.

We have received all that which Thou hast given us.

We are solely for Thee,

And we will all return back to Thee.

Thou art the Most Merciful and the Most High,

Thus, all those who have turned towards Thee,

And have accepted Thee as their Lord and have loved Thee,

And who have sacrificed themselves exclusively for Thee,

(O Allah) do not deceive them.

Therefore, glad tidings for the people who have Thee as their Master,

Thy Mercy has overpowered Thy punishment,

And Thou didst not let Thy sincere creatures down.

To Thee belong all praises from the beginning till the end.
