(Summary of Friday Sermon)

After having greeted everybody in Comoros Island, in Bambadjani with the Salutations of Peace, the Khalifatullah read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and then he said:

It is really a great pleasure for me to be present for the first time amongst you today the 17th July 2009 – a really historic date – so as to deliver to you the message which Allah has sent through me to give to the humanity as a whole. Indeed, this message is the same message which all prophets came to deliver in the past, including our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Promised Messiah of the last era Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (on him be peace). Like you all know, in the year 2001, a so-called Amir with the help of his associates have schemed together to expel me from the Jamaat Ahmadiyya. They did all their best to put obstacles in my path, but by the great power of Allah, Allah has always been with me and is still with me as my Protector, my Guide, and my Friend. The fact that I am before you today is a source of inspiration for all our members from all over the world and who are in constant contact with me, that whatever happens, I am here only to submit myself completely to the Will of Allah and to obey the instructions that only Allah gives me, so as to enable the re-establishment of the lost glory of Islam, Insha-Allah.

Allah has revealed the secret about the system of His decree and predestination but there are in His manifestation itself several points of wisdom. According to his experience, the Promised Messiah (on him be peace) see that nobody can attain a high degree of spirituality without first doing efforts to achieve it. It is through trials that Allah sends upon you and which you must endure (with patience) that you will be able to come nearest to Allah. Who can give one a tight correction (with the means of a rod)? Allah is the One Who is Most Gracious and Merciful towards His creatures (and thus all trials which comes from Allah is not without rewards). The Promised Messiah (on him be peace) has said:

“I have discovered this personally that a person after having gone through a difficulty, Allah showers upon him great rewards and blessings.”

Life after death is eternal – Those who have left us will never be able to return, but we will be with them very soon.

The wall of this world (which separates the Next World from this temporal world) is not solid and I must say that it is on the brink of falling. A point to ponder over is that there is nothing in this world which we can bring with us in the Next World, and besides, nobody knows when he will leave this world definitely. When a person has died, at this moment we may think that his time (for dying) is not good and that he has gone empty-handed – only his (good) actions have followed this dead person! But it is not shocking to see that there exists people who are on the verge of dying but even in this delicate moment, they think more about their worldly possessions than their death (and the account that they will have to render before Allah). These kinds of people are still attached to these mundane possessions and are not concerned about anything else (even if death is approaching).

There are also a lot of these kinds of people in our Community itself (Islam) who behave in this way. Their worship of Allah has strings attached (that is, is conditional). There are others who pray Allah and ask for a lot of riches or other mundane possessions, and if their demands are accepted, then they would be ready to accept Islam, and even in the time of the Promised Messiah it was so, when prospect adherents would enter the Community of the Promised Messiah if only Allah satisfy their demands. These imbeciles do not realise that Allah does not need from them this kind of “so-called” initiation in this Community – the Ummah of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) as a whole, and particularly the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam. The Promised Messiah also spoke in the same wavelength about his Community.

Our Community (Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam) must have members who must believe (and follow) the examples of the companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) who have sacrificed their lives and time in the path of Allah.

During a casual conversation, some people have pointed to the destruction which can materialise and which can be averted by giving away charity. The Promised Messiah has said:

“This is true. But some people have objected as to why there are two parts of the definition concerning the divine decree.

The answer to that, our experiences have witnessed facts which sometimes when facing an extremely (difficult) situation, a person loses hope, but by the means of prayer, charity and Sadqua, this extreme situation is averted at the last minute. Thus, we must believe that the divine decree, called “Mo’allaq”, (a decree which can happen) can exist. If that type of decree did not exist and there was only the decree “Mubram” – a decree which cannot be averted – which exist, and that prayer and charity had no effects whatsoever, then why is it, that very difficult situations are averted by prayers and charity?” (Volume 7, page 87-88)

The Promised Messiah (on him be peace) also said that it is the case that some divine intentions are meant to create fear of Allah in the heart and to make people believe once again in the powers of prayer. By the grace of Allah, through prayer, charity and other good actions, lots of people’s fear and dangers menacing them have been averted. The efficacy of prayer is like a relation between a man and a woman, whereby when it is done at the right time, and the conditions are appropriate (for procreation) to be realised, but when there was no intention between the attainment of the desired result and the undesired result, thus the outcome is non-existential. But when the divine decree cannot be averted and is thus inevitable, that is, through the “Mubram” decree, then it happens that even through appropriate prayers the outcome (the divine decree) cannot be averted. People want to pray but they lack full concentration and their hearts do not develop the necessary hurtful feelings and sadness. There is a lack of concentration in the appropriate prayers and also in the daily prayers when one prostrates himself before his Creator. All these show that the ultimate result of the faced situation will not be better and that the “Mubram” decree is inevitable.

But in certain exceptions, Allah revert His “Mubram” decrees at the heart-felt supplications of His Messengers, Messiahs, Reformers and Prophets. There was a case when the Promised Messiah supplicated for a boy, who was the son of Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan Sahib who fell grievously ill. The Promised Messiah (on him be peace) supplicated a lot for the boy and thus received a revelation that the forthcoming death of the boy is a “Mubram” decree, but nevertheless the Promised Messiah (on him be peace) supplicated Allah a lot (for His Mercy and Sign) and thus Allah exceptionally (for His beloved Messiah) averted the “Mubram” decree about the forthcoming death of the boy.

In the times of the Reviver of Faith Abdul Qadir Jilani (on him be the mercy and satisfaction of Allah) there were several times when Allah averted His “Mubram” decrees due to his prayers. The “Mubram” decrees are of two types: one is really “Mubram” (inevitable) and the other is made to appear “Mubram” but is in fact “not Mubram”.

The decree which is absolutely and really “Mubram” cannot be averted whatever situation crop up; for example, all human species (and all living things) have to taste death. This decree is absolutely inevitable, even if people desire to live on earth eternally and pray in that direction. The other type of “Mubram-like” decree happens when a dangerous situation is aggravated and appears as if that danger cannot be averted. Thus this type of situation is referred to that decree which is made to appear “Mubram” – but in fact is a “Mo’allaq” decree and thus can be averted through prayers and giving away charity. The REAL “Mubram” divine decree is like even if all prophets are assembled together to pray for a situation to be averted by Allah, even then Allah will disregard all their efforts and applies only His infallible decree.

The Holy Quran has put forward certain subjects for the establishment of the great principle that Allah – The Almighty, The Unique One, Who is the Source of Existence and the Goal of all (mankind), from which some imbecile critics have deducted beliefs which have been established with force. Allah is the principle cause of all things and He gives us all our means. This is why Allah the Almighty, in certain cases has described Himself in the Holy Quran as the Cause of all causes, without the intervention of (secondary) means. But a study of the Holy Quran will reveal that the other means will intervene; it is clearly specified so that people may notice it. And moreover, the Holy Quran has specified punishments for the wrongdoers and other punishments also. If there were an unchangeable system of Divine Decree and Predestination and all humans were under a total compulsion, then what justification would there be to have punishments?

We must recall that the Holy Quran does not contain all things within the system of physical causes but it seeks to guide mankind towards the unity of Allah. Lots of people do not realise the true nature of prayer and they do not understand the relation between prayer and divine predestination. Allah the All-Powerful opens the path for those who have recourse to prayer and thus He does not reject their supplications. There is on one hand prayer and on the other the Divine decree and predestination – Allah has set up an appropriate time for both. (Through prayer) there is the manifestation of an aspect of the attribute of providence (the concern that Allah has towards Living creatures) which Allah has accepted from those who pray to Him. Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“Implore Me, and I will respond to you.” (Chapter 40 Verse 61)

That is why I always say that the God of Muslims respond to their supplications, but the “god” who has not even create a particle or who have died at the hands of the Jews, how then can he respond to his devotees’ supplications?

It is not reasonable to try to reconcile between choices and force on the basis of logic and reasoning. It is useless to try to understand the mysteries of Allah. Moreover, it is not respectable to do so. Like the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has said: “The path of seekers of truth is very respectable.” Thus the divine decree and predestination has a close relation with prayer. Prayer can postpone or stop divine decrees, especially the “Mo’allaq” ones. Prayer is a efficacious means to avert dangers and difficulties. Those who deny the efficacy of prayer they have indeed not understood (this reality). The Holy Quran has elaborated on two aspects of prayer. In one aspect Allah the Almighty does what He pleases and in the other aspect, He responds to the prayer of His servants.

“We will surely test you through some fear, hunger…” (Chapter 2 Verse 156)

In this verse, Allah the Almighty loves that obedience is paid to His Will. He means that the answer of people who submits to His Divine Will must be:

“We belong to Allah, and to Him the return.” (Chapter 2 Verse 157)

The moment of the rising of the tides of the grace and mercy of Allah the All-Powerful is indicated in the Holy Quran like I mentioned earlier:

“Implore Me, and I will respond to you.” (Chapter 40 Verse 61)

A believer must have the knowledge of both these aspects which the Holy Quran has described. The Sufis say that when a person is completely dependent upon Allah, he does not become perfect as long as he does not make a distinction between an appropriate place for his worship and the time for his worship. It has been reported that a Sufi does not perform supplications as long as he does not recognise the appropriate time for his supplication. The Reviver of Faith Abdul Qadir Jilani (May Allah have mercy upon him) has said that prayer has the power to transform a stone-hearted person and make him become a good human. He goes further to say that it is through prayer that great dangers which seem like the inevitable divine decrees can be averted.

We must always keep in mind the powers that Allah has invested into prayers, and thus Allah loves those who obeys Him completely and submit to His Will. At other times, He accepts the supplications of His servants. In other words, He deals with His servants like friends; that is He befriends His servants and responds to their call. The prayers of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has the greatest chance of being heard and fulfilled and he had the greatest position in terms of obedience to the Will of Allah and he submitted to Allah’s Will with joy and happiness.

May Allah give us the good fortune of submitting ourselves completely to Him, to His Will, of the good that He has chosen for us, and to take patience in such times when He tries us with difficulties and other painful trials. Our joy rests in obeying Him fully and praying that mercy be shown upon us as His sincere servants and friends. Ameen.

To end this sermon, I thus pray Allah to enable all members who have taken the oath of allegiance at my hands in Mbeni, may Allah bless all of you, enlighten you, and give you all the capabilities to work body and soul for the religion of Islam under the banner of this humble servant of Allah, the Caliph of Allah and Reviver of Faith who has come to re-establish the lost glory of Islam and to give Islam its value in our hearts and in the hearts of other people who are thirsty of truth and spirituality. Ameen.
