Friday Sermon
Hazrat Amir’ul Momeneen Muhyi-Ud-Din Al Khalifatullah
Munir Ahmad Azim
24 July 2009
(Summary of Friday Sermon)
After having greeted everybody in Madagascar, in Tana with the Salutations of Peace, the Khalifatullah read the Tashahhud, Taouz and Surah Al Fatiha and then he said:
“Nahnou awliyaa oukoum fi hayatid-dunya wa fil akhirah” (Ch.41 V.32)
We are your allies in this life, and in the Hereafter.
In other words, Allah is the Friend of the pious in this world and life after death. This verse also reject some beliefs about the fact that angels descends (upon a person) only upon the death of that person and not during his life on earth. If that was the case, then how can Allah become the Friend of people in this world and the hereafter? It is a real blessing for the friends of Allah to witness the visions of angels. The hereafter is a world which we believe in through our faith, but the pious one perceives the next world in this very life, and He “sees” Allah in this life also. These kinds of people see Allah and He (Allah) talks to them. If there was not this connection, then a person’s death and his departure from this world would have been bad for him. Those who have not received true dreams would meet a bad end.
The Holy Quran supports this as a sign depicting the true believer. Remember that the one who does not possess this kind of sign, is not righteous. Thus, we must all pray that this condition is accomplished in us, and that Allah gives us this blessing, that is, revelations, true dreams and visions. This is a special characteristic of a true believer and this must be inherent in him.
There are other blessings that a believer obtain, that is, the Opening of the Holy Quran, the Surah Al-Fatiha where Allah teaches a believer to pray as thus:
“Guide us in the right path: the path of those whom You blessed; not of those who have deserved Your wrath, nor of those who have gone astray.” (Chapter 1 Verses 6-7)
In other words, guide us in the right path; the path that those people who have been recipients of Your blessings and Grace have taken. Allah has taught us this prayer so that a person can take a great decision to be able to understand the intention of his Creator. This intention is that which the Ummah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has taught us; that we do not lead a life similar to that of animals, and to remove all veils, that is, to obtain a real knowledge of God Almighty.
According to the Shia, knowledge terminated with the twelve Imams. This contradicts the teachings of the Surah Fatiha which shows us that the intention of Allah is to elevate pious people to the rank of prophets. Another point is that man possesses a lot of capabilities which he must nourishes and develop. An animal cannot develop this capacity because it is not human. When a person with great resolution hears the story of the prophets and messengers of Allah, he not only wants to have firm faith in the blessings which is bestowed on that specific group (the prophets and messengers of Allah), but he also want to obtain the knowledge which they obtained. He wants to access the different stages of knowledge of these blessings, and thus he begin to first obtain the knowledge of certitude, then he witness that certitude, and afterwards comes to experience certitude and the absolute truth.
There are three stages of knowledge:
1. Knowledge of certitude by reasoning.
2. Witnessing certitude.
3. Knowledge which he obtains through experience.
For example, when we see smoke, we know that there is the presence of fire; it is certitude that there is the existence of fire. Now, to see fire, we must first go to witness it with our own eyes so that we may know for certain about its reality and when the eyes have come to witness it, it is then that we can say, “Yes, it is true, it is fire. There is no doubt about it.” Another example, to be really sure that it is truly fire, it is when we put our hand in this fire and we feel our hand burning (we obtain a sensation of burning). Unfortunate is the person who has not witness these three stages of knowledge.
Whatever the number of pious and wise men exist; they all devote their time in a constant fight to perfect their worship of Allah. There are some friends of Allah in the history of Islam who have reached a very high stage through special efforts and spiritual exercises which they practice by hard work. They practice entirely and with zeal and great efforts the Sunnah (practice) of the Holy prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and through this effort to follow the Sunnah, they came to eliminate their pride, arrogance, and egoism. They become as if they have gone through the hole of a needle, through which each and every person must go through. To reach their goal, they must do a lot of efforts and it is these kinds of people’s prayers which are accepted by Allah. The physician’s medicine is without any efficacy if it is without the proper exercise. Likewise, prayer also will not be efficacious if a person does not abandon all that which Allah does not like.
Some people fabricate false stories about pious people. And this comes as an obstacle in the path of ordinary people and in the life of other people also. There is for example the anecdote of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani, who preached spirituality to all those who came to him, to such a point that there occur a complete change (positive one) in these people; they also become pious (just like a person who keep company with a perfume seller, he also will obtain perfume).
Remember that nobody can reach such a stage if he does not operate in himself a complete reform, and kill his entire ego found within him and then follow the practice of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
There are some people whom in their very nature, and in whatever form Allah has created them, it is easy for them to eliminate arrogance and pride from within them, and they become such kinds of people who as if did not possess these ills within them before. Like a seed becomes dust when planted it in the soil, and the power of Allah make it grow, likewise these kinds of people also, at first, they lose all that they possess for the cause of Allah, and afterwards Allah gives them back life, and make them develop and prosper whereby other people accept them easily.
A person who is firm in his faith and who accepts all difficulty and trials whenever Allah tries him, and he takes it as a trial which comes from Allah, and accepts to undergo such difficulties and trials without condition, and moreover he has complete faith that all powers are in the hands of Allah, then Allah through His blessing shows him all that which will strengthen his faith. As for those who are stubborn and are unbelievers, they want to command Allah and make Him submit to their will, instead of them putting into practice the instructions and commandments of Allah. Thus these kinds of people are deprived of all blessings. Thus, what kind of reward do these types of people await to obtain from Allah?
Allah shows indifference towards these kinds of people because He has millions of servants who are devoted to Him, for His cause. If a person refuses to accept the instruction and commandment of Allah, this is his own choice and thus this person’s destination will be Hell-fire.
When Allah sends His signs, Allah does not act according to the plans and desires of these people. Allah manifests Himself only on people who submit themselves completely to His will. For example, if you chew a seed and then try to plant it in the earth, it will neither grow nor develop. Likewise, people who turn their backs to the will of Allah, they will not inherit the favours, blessings and signs of Allah. Allah neither likes vain words nor the people who spread hatred in the hearts of people on the pulpit, whereby Allah is pouring down His grace, blessings and favours of revelations upon his humble servant. It is this that which has transpired in the Ahmadiyya Movement where the so-called Mullahs and the so-called Amir have humiliated me on the pulpit of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on Friday the fifth January 2001 in all Ahmadiyya Mosques in Mauritius, only because this humble servant of Allah has said that he receives divine revelations.
O brothers and sisters who are present here, and who are listening to me, become really sincere and accept to suffer in the path of Allah so as this appraisal of yours can reach the heavens. When Allah wants to protect a person, nobody has the power to abase and humiliate that person. The more they will try to humiliate that person; Allah will all the more bless that person because his heart is so full of the love of Allah. Come what may these imbeciles cannot separate this person’s love for Allah from his Creator. Allah looks at the heart only, He looks at the love which this person has for Him and observe this love secretly. Allah disregards vain words which hold no value in His eyes. Allah penetrates the heart of that person who has purified him and cleansed himself from all impurities. He penetrates that heart and illumines it with His light. A heart which is not purified is a heart which attracts the malediction of Allah, just like those who likes to create hatred (for an innocent) in the heart of other people, whereby they show their real face of hypocrites and jealousy for the humble servant of Allah.
Always remember that faith without good actions and which holds jealousy and hypocrisy, that person’s heart becomes charcoal-like. Then how is this possible that true faith is not accompanied by a righteous action? If they were practising Islamic teachings, then they should not instil hatred into the hearts of people only because Allah is talking with His humble servant. I would advise them to go and strengthen their faith in Allah, to hold fast to the Holy Quran and follow the Sunnah (practice) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and to stop taking creatures as their idols and to instead to turn towards Allah so that they may obtain a complete faith in Him.
There are people who do not reinforce their faith but they are always complaining that they are not receiving any blessings or rewards from Allah. This is so because they conceal jealousy in their hearts; this jealousy has webbed itself round their hearts like a spider web. This web prevents them from accessing the blessings and rewards of Allah.
O my brothers and sisters of Madagascar who are in great number today in the Jummah so that you may hears the verities of these divine manifestations, the one who fears Allah and believe in Him and His Messenger – Allah will open his path, even though people will try to put all sorts of obstacles in his path.
I must be thankful to Allah for all these trials and persecutions, because through these, Allah has elevated me to the rank of His humble servants and with a Jamaat where now I am present before you to put before you these verities. These imbeciles thought that when they would humiliate the humble servant of Allah, by putting all sorts of blames on him and steal his earnings, the humble servant of Allah would fall at their “beautiful little feet” to ask for forgiveness. They take themselves as god on earth. There is no difference between them and Pharaoh, especially the so-called Amir who is the Pharaoh of this era. They wanted to have me turn my back to my Creator in Whose hand my life, honour, food, drink are found. They wanted also that I give them more importance than Allah and that I renounce this grace and favour which Allah has bestowed upon me.
The one who has fear of Allah in his heart, like Allah mentioned in the Holy Quran, Allah will protect him against all difficulties and will also give him provisions from where he does not expect. Let me tell you today my brothers and sisters, that in the hands of man there is nothing; it is only in the hand of Allah that there rest everything and this is a true promise of Allah. We must all believe that Allah is Gracious and Merciful, He will always fulfil His promise; come what may. He is never double-faced and He always keeps His word. One who becomes for Allah, Allah will protect him against all humiliations and will take good care of him. As for so-called pious people, those who plot to do evils such as backbiting people, spying them – these kinds of people will be deprived of the blessings coming from Allah. Allah will let them go astray till their appointed time comes when He will seize them for their wrongdoings.
Allah make people go through different kinds of trials to see whether the believer gives preference to his faith or to the temporal things of this world. There are many who say that they believe in Allah but when they see that their religious life (their faith) is becoming a burden on their mundane life, they prefer to abandon their faith in Allah in favour of mundane attractions so that they may obtain honour and popularity on this earth. There are those who have the fear of their so-called Amir (they do not even know if what he says is true or not); they fear him and other Mullahs. Thus, they abandon the path of Allah, so as not to say that their faith in Allah becomes very weak. In fact, these types of people lack faith and trust in Allah; they do not know that Allah is the Best of all judges. The path of Allah is a difficult one unless a person makes a lot of efforts (in all sorts of way through lots of sacrifices); if not, his actions will hold no value before the eyes of Allah and thus will not be accepted by Allah. Will you, as a Boss be happy towards an employee who is a hypocrite (towards you)?
Is it not true what I am telling you that the employee who is not loyal towards his boss, and is not serious in his work, then definitively you will not look at him with honour? This is the same with Allah. A person who abandons his Divine Master for temporal things, and who is thirsty of power, thirsty to remain in power, who is ready to act as an abominable man that all people fear, who wants people to respect him and confess to him through force, the definitely this kind of person does not have the love of Allah in his heart. He is only good to create disorder and instil hatred in the hearts of people everywhere he goes!
O my brothers, sisters and children of Madagascar, by the grace of Allah you have taken the oath of allegience yesterday in this humble servant of Allah’s hand. Let me explain to you what is an oath of allegiance?
To take an oath of allegiance (in the hands of the chosen servant of Allah) means to give ourselves completely for Allah. A person who solemnly enters into an oath of allegiance with Allah is as if he has sold himself completely to Allah. It is a wrong conception that a person who treads on the path of Allah will suffer loss. The one who serves Allah sincerely can never be a loser. The loser will be the one who is untrue towards Allah, who breaks his oath which he had taken with Allah, so that he may enjoy the pleasures of this temporal world. Thus, all traitors must remember that there will be no leader, no king or so-called Amir who will come to rescue them when Allah will seize them with affliction. This kind of person will have to account before the Greatest Judge, that is, Allah.
Thus, it is necessary for each and every believer to have sincere faith in Allah the King of the heavens and earth, and all of us must turn towards Allah in repentance (for our sins and mistakes). It is a difficult initiative but it will become possible only if Allah lead us in that direction. To be successful, we must do lots of prayers, remember Allah a lot, read the Holy Quran and obey the instructions of Allah.
The one who struggle in the path of Allah sincerely, Allah will give him special powers and capabilities. The heart of a believer possesses such a trait that other people are attracted towards him (the believer). I do not understand why people would not be attracted towards someone who has sufficient love for Allah to attract people in this path. That person has a magnetic power within him to do this.
Some people think that when they will go and visit a certain sage, they will be able to join the circle of the truthful. They think that no effort and self-purification is necessary from their part to achieve this end. This is only a mere desire or a thought which have materialised in them. We must absolutely study the Holy Quran to know that we will obtain the pleasure of Allah only through accepting to face difficulties and trials like the prophets of Allah did in the past. Their experiences and sufferings are so great that the Quran explains it in these words:
“When will come the help of Allah?” (Chapter 2 Verse 215)
Verily the help of Allah is very near. The prophets of Allah have always gone through all sorts of difficulties and trials so that Allah may be pleased with them. There are two paths which lead towards success in this struggle. One of these paths is the path of “Saluk”.
Only people who use their own intelligence and wisdom who tread this path; they adopt the path of Allah and that of His Prophet (peace be upon him). Allah says in the Holy Quran:
“Proclaim: “If you love Allah, you should follow me.” Allah will then love you, and forgive your sins. Allah is Forgiver, Most Merciful.” (Chapter 3 Verse 32)
If you love Allah, then follow me (the humble servant of Allah); Allah will then love you. If you want to become among those people whom Allah loves, then follow the path of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) which I have come to repair. He (the Holy Prophet – peace be upon him) was the perfect guide and he went through a lot of difficulties and sufferings that no other one who resemble him in his perfection will ever be seen in this world or in other corner of the universe. The Holy Quran taught us how the infidels, hypocrites and traitors did not leave him in peace for even one day!
The true follower of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is only the one who follows his example sincerely in each of his words and actions. A person who does not put into practice the divine injunctions and the one who has a wrong attitude towards others, this kind of person is not appreciated by Allah at all. People like him attract the wrath of Allah.
One must absolutely study the life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and follow his path if he wants to become his true follower. This is the meaning of Saluk. When you tread this path, you will have all sorts of spiritual experiences if you are really sincere in your faith. It is after showing firmness in the face of difficulties that a person becomes a devoted Salik in the path of Allah.
The status of a person in the path of Jazb is greater than the one of Saluk. The term Jazb means being intoxicated in the love of Allah to such an extent that one loses oneself in this divine love.
The one who struggle in the path of Jazb does not stay on the stage of Saluk. Allah deliberately tries him in all sorts of ways to get him closer to Himself (Allah). Thus Jaazba-e-Azli is achieved through the eternal power of absorption in the love of Allah.
All prophets of Allah are Majzub; that is, they have become completely close to Allah and they have been absorbed completely in His love.
When the soul faces difficulties and trials, his experiences (spiritual ones) and his humility makes him shine all the more. Just like iron or glass shine after having passed through all sorts of long process of burning, likewise these souls also shine (being pure from all impurities). When our souls are purified, it will be like polishing them to such an extent that they resemble a mirror. What does reflection of the face mean? It means the accomplishment of the teachings, where we create in us morality according to the character of Allah.
The heart of a Salik is a mirror which has been refined and polished through experiencing great sufferings and trials which reflects the standard of the moral qualities which the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) have fixed. This materialise when one has gone through extreme hardships and levels of purification where no impurity is left behind. All becomes clean, pure. Each Muslim has the duty to polish his heart and make it reflect like a mirror.
May Allah help us to purify our heart from all sorts of impurities so that His light may always reflect in our hearts, and thus we become humble people struggling in the path of Allah body and soul. May come what may, you never break your oath of allegiance which you have taken in this humble servant of Allah’s hand and who is present before you. Remain ever attached to the divine instructions and commandments which Allah the Almighty has put in the Holy Quran and make your steps ever remain firm in the path of our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Insha-Allah. Ameen.
